Raven Online User's Guide

And/or read the following carefully before using.

Raven Version 4 Guidelines

1) Locate desired facility in Google Earth (free version works fine), zoom to desired height.

2) Choose desired resolution under View/View Size/Computer playback (800 x 600 good) OR for highest resolution, select full screen view

3) Use Tools menu/Measure/line tool to measure horizontal distance in meters (go from right to left edge) and note that distance.

4) Mouse over a prominent point or object and note lat/long values for that object. You will enter these into Raven. (optional)

5) Use File/Save Image to save a JPEG image to your hard disk, using a simple name and a .jpg extension (I suggest you save the name with the meters across like so: sfo1142.jpg)

6) Use form above to select that saved image from your hard disk and hit Upload.

7) Hit your F11 key to maximize your IE browser window so you can see the whole screen (and might also simplify browser toolbars to give you more screen space - especially on laptops)

8) When prompted, enter horz distance in meters and then next the lat and long values you recorded earlier. This is optional but will give you lat long positions for each placed camera.

9) NEW - Turn on show grid to see distances in meters and lat long positions of each camera as they are placed.

10) NEW - Some cameras have video associated with them (SR-100 for example) with more on the way. When available, a red triangle will show up on the range slider at that distance. Drag slider to that spot and click the large red triangle that shows up below. Hit close box to close window when finished watching video

11) Use save button to save to a file the settings of your camera configuration to load back in later

12) NEW Use report button to produce a simple web report showing the data for each camera selected. If you did not select lat/long, those values will be "undefined".

13) If you uploaded an image larger than 640 pixels wide, a zoom tool will show up on the left side of the image.

14) See online user's guide movie walking through the process.
